Dentures

Dentures are typically recommended for patients who are missing all their teeth. The different types of dentures are immediate and non-immediate. Immediate is when you extract all of the the remaining teeth and deliver the denture at the same time. Non-immediate is when you extract all of the teeth, allow the patient to heal, and then take impressions for denture fabrication. Most patients opt for immediate due to esthetics, but Dr. H recommends for the patient to fully heal to ensure a better fit.

All on 4’s is another option which is pictured below. This involves the placement of implants in which the denture will adhere. They can either be screwed in, magnetic, or snapped in place.

After delivery of the patients denture, we recommend taking care of it by yearly examinations to ensure their proper fit. As for home care, Dr. H recommends soaking them over night in a cleansing solution, which can be purchased at your local grocery store.

You should see the doctor immediately if you are having discomfort or wear on your denture. Simple adjustments can be made during the appointment to alleviate the pain.
